Jamie Hafner comes with a stellar resume. Professor Hafner most recently served as Director of Bands at Brevard College. He is Director Emeritus of Bands at The University of Toledo and Director Emeritus of Education at the Brevard Music Center. Mr. Hafner served as president of the Mid American Conference Band Directors Association and has degrees from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. He has been an Honorary Fellow in Conducting at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Michigan.
Hafner has been honored with memberships in many fraternities including Pi Kappa Lambda, a music honorary fraternity, Phi Beta Mu, a national bandmasters honorary fraternity, an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a national music fraternity and Kappa Kappa Psi, an honorary music fraternity.
As a tubist, Hafner has performed with the United States Military Band at West Point, the Savannah Symphony, the Toledo Symphony, The University of Toledo Faculty Brass Quintet, and the Brevard Music Center Orchestra. Last year he was a featured soloist with the Brevard Community Band. Hafner was a founding member of the International Tuba-Euphonium Association and has been commended by that group for his service as a teacher and performer.
As a conductor, Professor Hafner has earned the praises of composers Ulysses Kay, Vincent Persichetti, Robert Ward, Karel Husa, Fisher Tull, Martin Mailman, Ron Nelson and others for interpretation of their music. In 1974, Professor Hafner received University of Toledo's Outstanding Teaching Award, an honor he holds in high esteem.
Mr. Hafner is also is also a member of the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians and maintains a shop specializing in repair and restoration of wind instruments.
