We are a NC 501(c) non-profit organization,  and our board includes the following people:

Jamie Hafner

Conductor


Professor Hafner most recently served as director of bands at Brevard College. He is director emeritus of bands at the University of Toledo and director emeritus of education at the Brevard Music Center.
As a tubist, Hafner performed with the United States Military Band at West Point, the Savannah Symphony, the Toledo Symphony, the University of Toledo Brass Quintet and at the Brevard Music Center.
Mr. Hafner is an accomplished tuba player and comes with a stellar resume. He studied for two years with Mr. Harvey Phillips, the founder of TubaChristmas.
He was a featured soloist with the Brevard Community Band. Hafner was a founding member of the International Tuba-Euphonium Association and has been commended by that group for his service as a teacher and performer.
As a conductor, Professor Hafner has earned the praises of many composers, including Kay, Persichetti, Ward, Husa, Tull and Mailman, for his interpretation of their music.


Linda Threatte

President

Runs all board meetings, carries out contracts, orders, and documents on behalf of the band. The president also handles the daily administration of the band. In addition, they make sure all board duties are fulfilled with the community’s best interests in mind.  Given this job description, one who takes this role must have excellent leadership, management, and communication skills. They must know how to delegate and be a team player, and assures the board works smoothly with the community’s best interests in mind.


Sharen Hafner

Vice-President

Assumes the role of president when, for any reason, the latter is unable to. In that case, the VP fulfills the president’s responsibilities. The vice president can only exercise these powers in the president’s absence. Other vice president duties can vary, such as  presiding over other activities of the band  and lead committees.


Terri McCormick

Secretary

Maintains and keeps a majority of the association’s records. This refers to membership records, board meeting records, and other official records. The secretary also takes down meeting minutes and sends out notices of the meeting. Other than that,  duties include filing corporate annual reports and attesting to legal documents signed by the president on behalf of the organization.


JoAnne Edelman 

Treasure

The treasurer manages the band’s finances, keeps all financial records and serves as the custodian of securities and funds.  Also in charge of preparing or, overseeing the preparation of — all financial statements and reports. In addition to that, the treasurer works closely with other leaders to plan the annual budget.


Judy Carrigan

Librarian

Organize, catalog, and maintain collections;  answers reference inquiries; selects music, books, journals, recordings, microforms, and sometimes manuscripts and other  materials for acquisition.  Recommend means of preservation and housing of materials in their custody and use bibliographic and reference resources to their full potential.
Librarians often order or rent the music needed by student performing ensembles-orchestra, band, opera workshop, and chamber groups, and may also organize and maintain libraries of performance materials or recordings for use only by those particular organizations.

Mike McLain

Publicity

Publicizes the Brevard Community Band to the community. Develops and maintains strong relationships with the community, fellow members, audience, and the media.
Prepares new projects and executes existing projects, which entails research and development, drafting press releases and posting them regularly, and designing brochures, flyers, and the like. The publicist works in conjunction with the board to create and implement new  promotional policies.
In general, the publicist acts as a liaison between the Brevard Community Band and the media.
